True to its name, this tour includes breathtaking scenery and highlights of some of the South Islands hidden treasures including the "Siberia Experience" a unique New Zealand Wilderness Adventure in Mount Aspiring World Heritage National Park. 

 

 

TOUR ITINERARY:

 

DAY 1 - QUEENSTOWN TO WANAKA(1 hour and 40 minutes)
Collect your automatic rental car from Queenstown and drive to Wanaka by way of the Crown Range, the highest main road in New Zealand, with great views and gold mining history. (Overnight Wanaka)

 

DAY 2 - SIBERIA EXPERIENCE
This is truly one of the highlights of this tour.   FLY.....WALK.....JETBOAT
Take a 25 minute aeroplane flight into the remote Siberia Valley. Enjoy one of New Zealand's best wilderness experiences with stunning views including rugged mountains, glaciers, mountain lakes, hanging valleys and vast rainforests.

Retrace the steps of pioneers as you journey iqnto the spectacular Siberia Valley in the heart of the Southern Alps. Towering mountains greet you as you step from the Cessna aircraft onto the valley floor and set off towards the crystal clear waters of Siberia Stream and the walking track.

The 3 hour bush walk follows a well-formed track through river valleys and native beech forest. Immerse yourself in nature while you pass mountain streams, rock formations, mossy tree trunks, native ferns and native birds, including the inquisitive fantail.

Rendezvous with the jetboat at the pick-up point in the Wilkin Valley for a thrilling and scenic 30 minute journey back to Makarora.  (Overnight Wanaka)

 

DAY 3 - WANAKA TO ARROWTOWN (1 hour and 20 minutes)

Travel back towards Queenstown to discover Arrowtown, One of the most picturesque settlements in New Zealand, Arrowtown sits alongside the Arrow River - once the scene of a frantic gold rush.
Explore the Chinese miners' settlement, visit the Lake District Museum, catch a few holes at the challenging local golf course or take a 4WD journey to Macetown, a ghost town accessible only by wagon track. Arrowtown has a range of cafes, restaurants and appealing shops.
Arrowtown is an easy 20 minute drive to Queenstown.  (Overnight Arrowtown)

 

DAY 4 ARROWTOWN TO TE ANAU (2 hours and 45 minutes)

High country landscapes and trout fishing rivers are features of the road to Te Anau. The first part of your drive clings scenically to the edge of Lake Wakatipu. Take a break when you reach the small town of Kingston, the home of a remarkable vintage steam train.
The hub for sightseeing activities in the Fiordland region is the attractive resort of Te Anau, nestled on the tranquil shores of Lake Te Anau. Known as the Walking Capital of the World, Te Anau is located close to the main southern walking tracks, including the Milford, Hollyford and Kepler Tracks. Visitors to Te Anau can choose from a wide variety of activities including scenic flights, launch cruises, sea kayaking, underwater diving, cycling, fishing and more. The unique Te Anau Glowworm Caves are another main feature of Te Anau.  (Overnight Te Anau)

 


DAY 5 - MILFORD SOUND (Or Doubtful Sound option)

Board a luxury coach from Te Anau to Milford Sound and travel through the Fiordland National Park and be mesmerized by the grandeur of this region.
As you pass through the Eglington Valley, you will see ancient alpine beech forest, stunning waterfalls and the famous Mirror Lakes where the coach pauses for photo opportunities.

Time for photo stops and short walks along the way.  At Milford Sound the Relaxing Nature Cruise provides excellent viewing opportunities where you will see the wonders of Mitre Peak, glacier scarred rock walls that rise 1200 meters (3937 feet) vertically from the sea and waterfalls that tumble from hanging valleys and crash into the sound far below. An on-board nature guide provides interpretation.
Optional lunches are available on board and MUST BE PREBOOKED.  Complimentary tea and coffee is available.  Return transport travel to Te Anau is again by luxury coach, providing passengers with time to reflect on the beauty of

DAY 6 - TE ANAU TO QUEENSTOWN (2 hours and 25 minutes)

Today you travel back to Queenstown taking in the last of this magnificent scenery which the Fiordland Park offers.  You can use the rental car to continue exploring Queenstown and return late afternoon evening.

Alternatively add a few extra days to your trip in Queenstown from $195.00per person, per day including accommodation and rental car.
